Mr. Littauer joined the firm in 1989, and his experience covers the full range of employee benefits matters. Currently, his work is devoted principally to counseling executive and middle management in establishing and administering employee benefit plans, including health, disability, retirement, and cafeteria plans. He provides advice and assistance concerning qualified retirement plans, such as 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, and defined contribution/defined pension plans; withdrawal liability; COBRA; employee stock ownership plans; executive deferred compensation programs; and tax withholding issues and related independent contractor/employee determinations. Mr. Littauer assists management in resolving benefits controversies with employees. He is actively engaged in defending companies in court and before administrative agencies against benefit and fiduciary claims, including those arising under health, disability, life insurance, severance, retirement, and other benefit plans. He also is experienced in defense of ERISA claims and lawsuits based upon allegations of discrimination.
