Personal

In addition to enjoying outside activities, I like trying out new restaurants. I live in New Orleans, so there are many great dining options for a foodie like me. I also do volunteer work for the Junior League of New Orleans as an active member. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and listen to a variety of podcasts and read books with a focus on business, technology, and economics.

overview

My unique background as a tax consultant gives me a broad knowledge base of the tax and financial factors that affect my clients’ businesses. I craft strategic solutions to best help them pursue not only their immediate siloed goals, but also their big-picture objectives.

Practice Overview

Counseling on a wide range of employee benefits and other tax-related matters, Emily Tastet helps clients resolve questions related to health and welfare plans, defined benefit and defined contribution plans, payroll taxes, and other matters governed by the Internal Revenue Service, the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) of the U.S. Department of Labor, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), and Health and Human Services (HHS). Emily advises with respect to retirement, health, and welfare benefits both subject to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and not. In addition, she offers advice on executive compensation matters.

Emily serves large and small commercial clients in a wide range of areas, including energy, healthcare, and marketing and advertising, as well as nonprofit and public-sector organizations. She closely monitors the ever-changing regulatory landscape so she can optimally guide clients in their responses to developments.

Drawing on her legal and tax experience—she worked as an advisor at a top-ten public accounting firm prior to joining the firm—Emily quickly grasps complex issues, understands her clients’ priorities and develops practical, adjustable and cost-effective paths forward. In addition, she always keeps an eye out for potential pitfalls they may encounter down the road and prepares them to meet challenges as advantageously as possible.
